UAE Among Top 10 Countries Where German Millionaires Want to Relocate

Following recent events in Germany, 37% of German millionaires are considering emigration, with Dubai emerging as a key destination.

Company Setup

Following recent political shifts in their home country, the United Arab Emirates has become one of the top destinations for wealthy Germans considering relocation. A new survey reveals that more than one-third of German millionaires are contemplating an exit strategy, with Dubai standing out as an increasingly attractive option.

German Millionaires Seeking New Horizons

According to a recent survey of 1,000 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) in Germany, each with assets exceeding EUR 1 million, 37% are now more likely to consider emigration following Germany’s federal election. While Canada tops the list of preferred destinations at 29%, followed by Australia (22%) and the United States (16%), the UAE has secured a notable position at number seven, with 11% of respondents expressing interest in relocating to the Emirates.

This potential influx of wealth could substantially boost the UAE economy. Dubai alone already has more than 200 millionaires, positioning the city among the top 15 globally for ultra-wealthy residents.

Dubai’s Golden Visa - A Key Advantage in Attracting Global Wealth

The UAE offers distinct benefits that set it apart from traditional wealth havens. Its Golden Visa program is a center of its appeal to international investors. This residency-by-investment initiative provides accelerated and streamlined pathways to long-term residency that particularly appeal to high-net-worth individuals seeking stability, security, and favorable tax conditions.

The survey highlights that 88% of German millionaires express interest in opportunities like the UAE’s Golden Visa program. This strong preference aligns perfectly with the Emirates’ focus on attracting global investors through accessible residency options. The program’s transparent requirements, efficiency, and long-term benefits make it particularly attractive to wealthy Europeans looking for alternative bases for their families and businesses.

Other Residency Pathways

While the Golden Visa program attracts significant attention, the UAE offers several alternative residency options that appeal to German millionaires with specific needs.

The retirement visa program provides a five-year renewable residency for individuals over 55 who meet financial thresholds, creating an attractive option for older German investors seeking a tax-efficient retirement haven.

For those preferring a business-oriented approach, establishing a mainland company or registering in one of the UAE’s 40+ free zones offers another pathway to residency through investor or partner visas.

TME Services offers specialized expertise in company setup and formation across the UAE’s mainland and various free zones, providing German investors with comprehensive guidance through every stage of business establishment.

Planning for Relocation Success

Thorough preparation is essential for Germans considering the UAE as their next home. To ensure a smooth transition, expert guidance is required for managing residency requirements, understanding local business regulations, and establishing proper tax structures.

This includes creating a formal tax exit strategy from Germany, securing authenticated documentation with proper Apostille certification, determining optimal business structures between mainland and free zone options, and addressing family considerations such as education and healthcare arrangements.

Property acquisition strategies must be developed, whether for personal residence or investment, while cultural adaptation and understanding of local business etiquette remain important success factors.
